ePals and Google Maps Project

Hi guys, hope you've had a good week. I'm wondering what the status of our weekly assignments are. I'd like to try to finish this as soon as we can.

We need to figure out what type of project we would do. And also need to answer the following questions within our paper, via Google Docs:

  • Who are the students your students will communicate with (specific location, grade level)?
  • When would your students contact these other students (at what point in their project work)?
  • What kinds of questions would they ask each other and what kinds of information would they share?
  • What will they do with the information they get from the other students?

Did either of you have ideas regarding this?

Off the top of my head, this is what I've come up with:

I was thinking that we have our students focus on daily weather, and compare them with students  in another region, whether that be overseas, or in a different region within the United States. Possibly, students from both regions could note forecast (like a 7 day) then record their findings, and compare the accuracy of the forecast to the actual weather. Then students could discuss their findings with students from different regions and then compare the results or something along those lines.

That's just a rough draft of my idea. Would love some feedback, additions, or to hear any other ideas that the two of you have. Let me know, Thanks!

  1. Yeah Brooke I think that sounds great! I was thinking something along those lines will work good for us. So say we have our "class" record weather each school day for one or two weeks and them sum it all up and get thier results, and then compare with another class via webcam or epals or whatever!

  2. Oh also I believe I invited you both to be able to edit the google doc, let me know if theres still any issues with you loging in or getting the document open. Im really hoping we can get this done quickly, so Im going to get us a start on typing up just a rough draft of those questions. Feel free to change anything I write, lol. Just getting it started because tomorrow I wont be able to get on here until the evening :/
